Darien – Yvonne Delane Simmons Deal, of Darien, GA, was born January 9, 1945, to George Simmons and Pauline Bryson. Yvonne lost her long, hard battle with dementia on September 6, 2021, 11 days after the passing of her husband, at her oldest daughter’s home, under the loving care of her family. Yvonne was born in South Carolina, as the oldest of 11 children, and moved to Georgia with her husband, Ed Deal, and the first of their two children in the late ’60s, where she worked side by side with him to build and operate their business, Ed Deal’s Used Cars, for 46 years. Yvonne attended the Darien Church of God for over 30 years. Yvonne was a kind spirit who blessed her family, friends, and everyone she met, throughout her life with her generosity and loving spirit. She instilled in her children and grandchildren kindness, compassion, acceptance, and loyalty. Along with her kindness and compassion, Yvonne was perhaps best known as “the feeder” as she fed friends, family, customers, and people she did not know at all, her delicious meals, cakes, pies, and other desserts. Even now, the term “Yvonne hot” is used by her children and grandchildren to describe soup so hot it steams for 20 minutes after you place it in a bowl, but it was always so good you couldn’t wait to try to eat it.
Along with her husband and parents, Yvonne is preceded in death by her siblings, Rebecca Simmons, Debbie Simmons, Sylvia Frary, and Kenny Bryson, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Yvonne is survived by her 3 children, Angie (Darrell) Owens, Danny Deal, and Sandy Howard; her 8 grandchildren, Megan Hutchinson, Aaron Deal, Dillon Howard, Carly Howard, Chloe Rowe, Josie Rowe, Daniel Deal, and Devin Deal; 5 great-grandchildren, Kaylee Hutchinson, Blayne Hutchinson, Brayden Hutchinson, Kadence Hutchinson, and Emery Howard; siblings, Donna Hansen, Kathy (George) Rosier, Vickie Lange, Sherry (Danny) Martinez, Sheila (TJ) Ford, and Don (Carla) Bryson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Yvonne was the one to always tell you how lovely you looked, how good your meal or dessert tasted, or how smart you were, she was the first one to offer a hug or a smile when they were needed most and that legacy is something her family will carry in their hearts forever.
Memorial services will be Friday, September 10 at 11 AM at Darien Church of God with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating.
