Glennville – John Wilton Morgan, 62, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at his home under the care of his family and GHC Hospice. Born in Jesup, he grew up in Long County and lived there most of his life, recently moving to Glennville. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections attaining the rank of lieutenant. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Compass Worship Center in Ludowici and preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Morgan, father, Billy Morgan, brother, Michael Morgan, and great-nephew, Bennett Howard.
Survivors are his wife of 40 years, Susan King Morgan of Glennville; sons and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Morgan, Bradley Morgan, and Travis and Beverly Morgan, all of Ludowici; mother, Doris Moody Morgan of Ludowici; sisters and brothers-in-law, Becky and Jimmy Howard and Debbie and Bryan Wingate of Ludowici; brother and sister-in-law, Daryl and Nicole Morgan of Ludowici; daughter-in-law, Michelle Morgan, and sister-in-law, Karen Stafford, both of Ludowici; grandchildren, Kenslee, Jaxson, Payton, and Madelyn; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 10 at 11 AM from Calvary Baptist Church with Pastors Brian Smith and Byron Powers officiating. Burial will follow in Elim Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 9 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Dusty Amos, Larry G. Bell, Darrell Maulden, Marcus Rollins, Bryan Wingate, II, Cody Adams, Richard Howard, and Zane Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell “Sugar” Maulden, Jimmy Howard, Daryl Morgan, Ron Hall, Reed Howard, Tracy Strand, Jeff Horton, and the staff of GHC Hospice.
