Jesup – Dr. William Diehl Turner, Sr., 75, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at Candler in Savannah. Born in Plant City, FL, he began his ministry in the early seventies singing in gospel quartets. After being ordained in his twenties he served churches in Florida, Puerto Rico, and Georgia. Most of his ministry was served in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico at Borinquen Baptist Church and as headmaster of Carib Christian School. After retiring to Georgia, he served as interim pastor at several churches, the last three years at Townsend Baptist Church, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jesup.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Turner of Jesup; daughter, Celina Crawford and husband, Don of Jesup; sons, William Turner, Jr., Chris Turner and wife, Amy of Jesup; sisters, Linda, Jan, Denise, and Kim; brothers, Jim, Mike, and Don; grandchildren, Kayla, Kasey, Daniel, Jared, Spencer, Aiyana, and Adeline; several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life services will be Friday, May 6 at 11 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Jesup with Rev. Vann Dempsey and Rev. Chris Turner officiating. Live streaming of the service will be available at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTMw_iLGRvfV49Ugp3SPiYg
