William Siets, Jr. Obituary

Ludowici – William “Bill” Siets, Jr., 78, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025, at his home under the care of his family and Georgia Hospice Care.  Bill was born in Richmond, VA, and lived in many cities due to his 30-year career in the Army, as well as his father's service during his childhood.  He moved to Liberty County from 1985-1996 and finally settled down in Long County in 1996 with his wife and children.  He enjoyed woodworking and making crosses for the residents of the nursing home in Ludowici.  He also liked hunting at Laurel View Hunting Club, fishing, and watching FSU and GA Bulldogs football on the weekends.  Bill was a Christian and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ludowici.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William, Sr., and Kate Siets; sister, Carolyn Smith; grandparents, aunts, and uncles. 

Survivors are his wife of 46 years, Mary Siets; daughter, Carolyn Siets (Jon); son and daughter-in-law, William Siets, III (Angela) all of Ludowici; grandsons, Bobby Ray Staudt of Tifton, and Thomas Gordon of Ludowici; granddaughter, Kyra Staudt both of Tifton; sister, Kay Cranley of Tallahassee, FL; brother, Johnny Siets (Janet) of Cairo, GA; numerous nieces and nephews in Florida; and numerous cousins in Virginia and California. 

Funeral arrangements will be on Wednesday, October 8, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Brian Smith officiating.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 7, from 5-7 PM at Howard Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be at the Georgia Veterans’ Cemetery in Glennville on Wednesday, October 8, at 3:00 PM.
