William (Willy) Elton Harrell, 67, died on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on November 29, 1957, in Statesboro, Georgia. He was the son of Elton Cranford Harrell and Patricia Ann Griffin Harrell. He was a 1975 Graduate of Glennville High School and attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College majoring in Agricultural Business. William began his professional life as a State Livestock Inspector before joining his father at Harrell’s Produce. A few years later he accepted a job at Honda/Yamaha of Savannah in Savannah, Georgia. Within his first year, he was promoted to Sales Manager where he continued for 15 years, being honored multiple times as Salesman of the Year, before he decided to retire from that position, to be closer to home and spend more me with his family. Being as hard-working as he was, he chose to take a job at Lowe's in Brunswick, Georgia as the Outdoor Equipment Specialist. He continued at Lowes for 10 years until he was asked by Claude Sheen to join Boating Sales and Service of Shellman Bluff, Georgia as Manager, where he continued until his health failed him, just three years ago. In 2020, to serve the needs of his community, William ran for District 4 Commissioner of McIntosh County. With encouragement from many community members, he ran for office. He won the election with 67% of the votes using the “Representing our families with common sense” campaign. He began his term with enthusiasm making a significant difference for District 4 while listening to the needs and concerns of residents. William was preceded in death by his father, Elton Cranford Harrell, his grandparents William (Bill) and Earldean Griffin, James Otis and Gladys Harrell, and numerous aunts and uncles including most recently, a very special aunt, Janet Griffin Lewis.
William is survived by the love of his life, Gina McIntosh Harrell, two sons, Justin Harrell and Tyler Harrell (Britney) one daughter Meredith (Jason) Hardage, and one stepson, Bobby (Melissa) Wedincamp, along with his mother Patricia (Pasty) Harrell, one sister Deanna (Joe) Beaver; several grandchildren: Jace, Kylie, Emily, Chevy, Charlee, Raelyn, Lachlan, William Elton, Hayden, Harrison, Tripp, and Monroe; a niece, Erica, a nephew, Caleb, several cousins, and two godsons; Andrew and Brandon Hellgren. William was a devoted husband, father, granddaddy, brother, son, and godfather, always putting family first and creating cherished memories with his friends and loved ones. He took pleasure in fishing, boating, motorcycle riding with his grandchildren, and driving his many tractors. He enjoyed these last years with his loving wife, many grandchildren, family, and friends. He will be remembered for his generous spirit and dedication to his family and community.
