Wallace Arnold Shaw, I

Wallace Arnold Shaw, I, 78, of Ludowici, Georgia, passed away on February 25, 2025.

Wallace was born to Arnold and Magnolia Shaw in Hinesville, Georgia, on March 17, 1946. He graduated from Long County High School in 1964 and joined the United States Marine Corps shortly after, where he proudly served for 4 years. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and received numerous awards for his service, including a Purple Heart medal.

Wallace was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and would go every chance he could, taking his children with him. When he wasn't hunting or fishing, you could find Wallace helping friends or family with many things as a he was a jack of all trades or with his best friend, Chris. He would never sit idle for long.

It seemed as though Wallace knew someone everywhere he went. There was no such thing as a quick trip to the store because we all knew he'd find someone to talk to for at least 30 minutes, a quality many of his children inherited.

Wallace loved his country and met with his fellow veterans as often as he could. He enjoyed attending the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine reunions and getting to tell war stories with his fellow Marines.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean, his parents, his brother Robert, his sister Violet, and two of his daughters, Amy and Mandy.

Wallace is survived by his five children, Angie (Mark), Wally, (Jackie), Randy (Holly), Ashley (John), and Brittany (Austin); one stepson, Tripp Meacham; one brother, Herb; Papa Hot Rod to 15 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 19, at First Baptist Ludowici.  The family will receive visitors from 10 to 11 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Folds of Honor.
