Violet Myers Obituary

Ludowici –Violet Inez Shaw Myers, 81, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Coastal Manor in Ludowici, GA under the care of GHC Hospice after a short illness.  Violet graduated from Ludowici High School, a member of the Class of 1961.  In 1965, she married John David Myers.  They lived in Valdosta and Dasher, GA from 1965 until 1978 when they returned to her home here in Ludowici.  While in Valdosta, Violet worked at Moody Air Force Base in the early days of computers as a key punch operator.  After returning to Ludowici, Violet worked several years on Ft. Stewart as a legal secretary for the Judge Advocate General’s office.  She attended the Monticello, Dasher, Central Ave., and Hinesville Churches of Christ for many years.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Magnolia Shaw and sister-in-law Jean Shaw.  She is survived by her daughter, Kelly R. Clary of Ludowici; three grandchildren, ET1 US Navy Trevor M. Ribal and wife Beka of Suffolk, VA, Cobb Co. Fire Engineer Nick A. Ribal and wife Emily of Bremen, GA, and Capt. US Army Laura A. Faciane and her husband Terry currently of Baumholder, Germany; great grandsons, Terry Faciane, Jr., Josiah Faciane, Wyatt Ribal, Elijah Faciane, Samuel Ribal, and great granddaughter, Mya Faciane; three brothers, Robert Shaw of Jesup, Wallace Shaw of Ludowici, and Herbert Shaw and wife Sheila of St. Johns, FL as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Growing up, Violet learned to handle herself as the only girl with three brothers.  Two of those brothers became US Marines so that should tell you something about her personality.  Although fiercely independent, Violet loved giving to others by taking care of those around her whether human or animal.  While working on Ft. Stewart, she was the most proud to work for the up and coming Judge Linnie Darden, III at JAG.

The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the staff at Coastal Manor Healthcare and GHC Hospice for their care and kindness shown to Violet and the family during her time of illness.

“Finally, being at peace is all I could ever ask for you.”  Your daughter, Kelly
