Tommy Summers Obituary

Ludowici – Thomas D. Summers, 75, died Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Landmark Hospital in Savannah.  A native and lifelong resident of Long County, he retired from civil service at Ft. Stewart, was a former police officer in Ludowici and Jesup, and was retired from Georgia Department of Corrections.  After retirement he worked for Long County until his health began to fail.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Jesup and preceded in death by his wife, Linda Summers.

Survivors are his daughters and son-in-law, Angie Moody of Ludowici and Faith and Scott Wiza of Valdosta; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Darlene Brown of Jesup, Kerry and Geniver Brown of Valdosta and Keith and Dee Dee Summers of Ludowici; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 6 at 2 PM in the Howard Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Denny Waters officiating.  Burial will follow in Pigott Branch Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Hewitt, Keith Sands, Jonathan Bennett, Seth Grabe, Kerry Brown, and Lanny Gordon, Jr.
