Gum Branch – Nancy Theresa Holtzclaw, 52, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at her home under the care of her family and GHC Hospice, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Born in Jesup, she grew up in Gum Branch, graduating from Bradwell Institute, class of 1987. She worked mostly as a paraprofessional but more recently at GeoVista Credit Union in Hinesville. An outgoing “people person’, she had a contagious smile and personality and was dedicated to her family and friends. She was a member of Elim Baptist Church and preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nancy Holtzclaw. The family wishes to thank the staff of GeoVista for their support during Theresa’s illness, and a special thank you to Christina Beepath with GHC Hospice.
Survivors are her fiancé’ and soulmate, Don Hale of Gum Branch; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Michelle Holtzclaw of Richmond Hill; children, Brandon Hale, Daina Hale, Taylor Achziger, Danielle Merrill and Renee Hale; niece and nephew, Kaitlin Holtzclaw and Ethan Holtzclaw; best friends, Trena and Frank Rozenbeck, Kenya and Crystal Melvin, Felicia Hersh and Melita Milton.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 30 at 2 PM in the chapel of Howard Funeral Home with Rev. Jeptha Newberry officiating. Burial will follow in Elim Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 29 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Brandon Hale, Ethan Holtzclaw, Kenta Melvin, Frank Rozenbeck, Paul Yarbrough, and Clyde Yarbrough.
