Jesup – James Ted Long, 55, passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at his residence under the care of his family and Hospice of South Georgia. He lived in Long County all his life, growing up on the family farm one of fourteen children, before moving to Jesup. He was a truck driver and had worked construction and maintenance on Ft. Stewart for several years. He was Baptist by faith and preceded in death by his parents, Franz, Sr. and Ruby Hutcheson Long; siblings, Mary Brannen, Bob Long, Earl Long, Charles Long and Sara Smith.
Survivors are his daughters and son-in-law, Jada Bishop and Lee of Jesup and Madison Long of Ludowici; son, Dalton Long of Atlanta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen Gunter and Larry of Conyers, Phyllis Long, Edith Weir and Jim, Joyce Dasher and Jeffrey, and Lynne Simpson, all of Ludowici; brothers and sisters-in-law, Franz Long, Jr. and Debbie and John Long and Judy of Ludowici, Daniel Long and Lynette of Fayetteville; grandsons, Ashton and Tristan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend and caregiver, Toni Shackleford of Jesup.
Visitation with COVID- 19 social distancing will be Wednesday, May 6 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
Private graveside services and burial will be in the Rye Patch Cemetery.
