Susan (Goodbread) Thompson

Darien – Susan Elizabeth Thompson, 56, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of the Golden Isles.  Born in Brunswick, she lived in Darien most of her life.  She worked in hotel housekeeping for many years and was a homemaker.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all, she was mostly called “Anma”, a title she cherished.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter-day Saints, and was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Howard Thompson, and her parents, John and Pearl Goodbread . 

Survivors are her husband of 40 years, Tommy Thompson of Darien; daughters, Crystal Simmons (Jason) of Darien, and Keri Wooten (Josh) of Easton, MD; sister, Sandy Owens (Tim) of Darien; brothers, Stephen Goodbread and Shawn Goodbread (Eva) of Darien; grandchildren, Blake Simmons, Makayla Crosby, Tyler Crosby (Ella), Austin Crosby, Isabel Simmons, Kirsten Strickland (Carson), and Samuel Wooten; great-grandson, Michael Holloway; several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 9, at 2 PM at Howard Funeral Home.  The family will receive visitors at the service.
