Susan (Moore) Mitchell

Jesup – Susan Jeanette Mitchell, 77, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Screven and under the care of her family and Hospice of South Georgia.  Born in Screven, she lived in Savannah for several years and returned to Wayne County in 1997.  In her early years, she worked in accounting and was a homemaker.  Susan was a lady with a huge, giving heart, known for playing her scratch-offs and giving most of it away when she saw a need.  She enjoyed traveling, baseball, and NASCAR and was a member of Isle of Hope Baptist Church.  Her husband, Samuel Mitchell, and grandsons, Christopher Mitchell and Dylan Hargrove, preceded her in death.

Survivors are her daughters, Keryl Glenn (Frank) of Belle Glade, FL, Karyn Hardee (Doug) of Midway, and Kelly Weaver (Jason) of Screven; son, Charlie Mitchell (Holly) of Jesup; a sister, Marilyn Florie of Savannah; grandchildren, Lindsey Glenn, Logan Brodmann (Alex), Abby Drawdy (Michael), Maddy Jones, Autumn Hargrove (Marc), Chase Mitchell, Madison Bryson, Mabry Lammons, Kenzie Mitchell, Reagan Horton (Seth), Mallory Weaver, Jaylee Weaver, and Emilee Weaver; great-grandchildren, Libby, Easton, Lennox, Mason, C. J., Samuel, Elaine, Larayne, and Jax; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 6 from 1-2 PM at Howard Funeral Home.

Committal services will follow at 3 PM at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with Pastor Dale Bange officiating.

After the service, family and friends are invited to come by Charlie’s house at 555 Cedar St, Jesup, GA 33430.
