Ludowici – Sharon W. McGowan, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Born in Liberty County, she lived in Long County most of her adult life. She loved growing beautiful flowers, riding the blues, playing cards, and fishing. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Smith; father and mother, Oscar and Jessie Wells; and siblings, Cleon Wells, Sr., Katrina Hall, Harrison “Hambone” Wells, Doreen Duke, Stanley Wells, and Leslie Wells.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Martin (Smitty) of Bell, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Darvon Freeman (Shafia), Michael Freeman (Lee), and Carlton “Tad” McGowan all of Ludowici; lots of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Horne (Jimmy) and Amy Howard (Tommy) of Ludowici; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, June 1 at 11 am at Howard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Baggs Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, May 31, from 6-8 pm at Howard Funeral Home Chapel.
Active pallbearers will be Harley Freeman, Anthony Freeman, Tommy Freeman, Kendall Haymons, Gavin McGowan, and Earl Freeman.
