Rose Ann "Rosie" Austin

Ludowici, GA - Rose Ann “Rosie” Austin, age 59, of Ludowici, GA passed away on November 2, 2022, under the care of her family and Your Family Hospice. She was born in Wiggins, MS to Isaac Earl “Sonny” Austin and Mary Jean Johns Austin. She was an avid horsewoman, a former Master 4-H’er, and a rodeo champion in team roping. She graduated from Long County High School in 1981. After graduating she worked for the University of Georgia Extension Service as the 4-H Program Assistant. She also worked for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources as a game warden, then went to Georgia Trooper School and was the only female to graduate in her class. She began her career at Post 1 in Griffin, GA, and completed it at Post 11 in Hinesville, GA.  Her parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brothers, Isaac Earl Austin, Jr. (Debe), and Roy Blocker; nieces, Melody Austin Tompkins (Jason), Mary Ann “Bubba” Yeomans (Brandon), and Lily Blocker; nephew, Austin Blocker; great-nieces, Jaci Tompkins (Taylor) and Addison Tompkins; great-nephews, Jared Tompkins (Hayley), Aiden Yeomans and Taylor Yeomans as well as extended family members. She is also survived by many friends, including a very special friend Wanda Hires. 

Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Ludowici First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Ludowici First Baptist Church on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. with Ray Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Baggs Cemetery with honors rendered by the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard.
