Hinesville – Rose Wells, 89, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, under the care of her family and GHC Hospice. A Christian, she was born in Taylors Creek and traveled with her husband during his military career, living in Liberty County most of her life. She retired as personnel manager for AAFES on Ft. Stewart, was a homemaker, and, while in her fifties, obtained her degree from St. Leo’s College. She was an active member of Gum Branch Baptist Church and the Sr. Adult Ladies Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Wells, Sr., sons, Roscoe Wells, Jr., Douglas Wells, and John Wells, Sr., bonus daughters, Audrey Carter and Joyce Bennett, daughter-in-law, Kay Wells, and son-in-law, Gary Walker.
Survivors are her daughters, Elaine Walker-Winters of Hinesville, and Carla Bell (Mickey) of Walthourville; son, Roger Wells of Hinesville; 20 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 21 at 2 PM at Gum Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Gabe Gill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Eric Wells, John Wells, Jr., Michael Bell, Jr., Jason Bell, Ernie Guyett, and Shane Wells.
Honorary pallbearers will be her Sr. Adult Ladies S. S. class.
