Jesup – Ronald Wayne Powell, 73, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022, under the care of his family and Hospice of South Georgia. Born in Oklahoma City, OK, he lived in Wayne County for the past seven years, previously living in St. Marys. He was retired from civil service law enforcement and retired from the US Army where he attained the rank of Captain. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed playing golf, shooting his age a few times, and shooting a hole-in-one at Kings Bay. He was Baptist by faith.
Survivors are his wife, Dena Rozier Powell of Jesup; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya Boatright and Keith of Jesup; sons and daughter-in-law, Cliff Ray, II and Shawna, and Jason Ray of Ludowici; brother and sister-in-law, Joe DeNoya and Pam of Ponca City, OK; grandchildren, Stetson, Reed, Cole, Morgan, Logan, Case, Nathan, Mallory, and JaLeigh; one great-granddaughter, Rhett.
Memorial services will be held Friday, December 9 at 2 PM at Howard Funeral Home in Ludowici with Rev. Tom Gardner officiating.
Private burial will be in Sunset Oaks Cemetery in Jesup.
