On Saturday, August 07, 2021, Roland (Ron) Melvin Daige Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 53 in Fort Gordon, Georgia. Ron was the youngest son born to Roland and Goldie (Denny) Daige of Pineville, KY. Ron was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Ron graduated from Bell County High School in 1986.
In 1987, he joined the U.S Army at 19. He became and excelled as a leader, earned an extraordinary amount of medals, which included a Bronze Star Medal. He served in Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Ron did 4 tours and spent a total of 4 years and 8 months overseas. Through his hard work and dedication, Ron steadily was promoted through the ranks to Sergeant First Class (E-7). Ron retired in 2013 after 25 years+ in the Army. Ron called Georgia home after retirement. He enjoyed being retired and not too long after he retired he enjoyed working on saltwater fish tanks and airbrushing. Ron lived his life to the fullest and put his family before anyone else. He always wanted to be at his fish tanks or on the grill having a BBQ with family surrounding him.
Ron married the love of his life Arlene, on June 28, 2014, in Batangas Lipa City, Philippines. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Roland & Goldie (Denny) Daige and his older brother Eddie Daige. Ron was survived by his wife Arlene Daige, his five children: Randall (Shannon) of Middlesboro, KY; Heather (Charlie) of Harrogate, TN; Dustin (Caitlyn) of Hinesville, GA; Shane of Ludowici, GA, and Kian of Ludowici, GA. Ron was survived along with his two sisters Deborah (Larry) Saylor of Pineville, KY; and Vickie (Darrell) Saylor of Pineville, KY; as well as 7 grandchildren: Trinity, Rayleigh, Bella, Noah, Presley, Gunner, and Ryland who thought Papaw was the best thing in the world. Ron was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who thought the world of him. He was a proud and absolutely amazing father (in-law), son, brother(in-law), uncle, and Papaw.
