Jesup – Robert Meldrim Shaw, 83, left this world for his heavenly home after a lengthy illness, on July 21, 2024. Robert graduated from Ludowici High School in 1959. He served for years in the Georgia National Guard. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Wyles Arnold Shaw and Magnolia Fletcher Shaw; sister, Violet Shaw Myers; and sister-in-law, Jean Shaw.
Robert is survived by his brothers and sister-in-law, Wallace Shaw of Ludowici, Herbert Shaw (Sheila) of St. Johns, FL, and several nieces and nephews. Robert moved away after high school. He worked at Union Camp Paper Company in Savannah, also in Valdosta, Atlanta, Oklahoma City, OK, Malibu, CA, and Minneapolis, MN for several years before returning to South Georgia. Until COVID, Robert was a volunteer with Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Service and internment for Robert will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank those at Altamaha Healthcare in Jesup and Hospice of South Georgia for their kindness and care shown to Robert during his illness.
