Allenhurst – Robert S. Bell, Sr., 80, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024, in Savannah. Born in CT, he grew up in Tattnall County and lived in Long County since 1981. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam and was a former member of the American Legion in Hinesville. He was a retired OTR truck driver with over 50 years of service and was an avid car enthusiast. Mr. Bell was known for keeping the roadside clean on Tibet Hwy. out of his red Chevy truck and was recognized in a 2017 edition of The Coastal Courier for his volunteer efforts. His wife, Mary Bell, preceded him in death.
Survivors are his daughters, Sonya Bell of Akron, OH, Tina Owens (Brian) of Glennville, and Stephanie Burke (Stacy) of Allenhurst; son Robert “Bobby” Bell, Jr. of Long County; sisters Karen Smith of Savannah and Karol Edwards of Thunderbolt; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be private.
