Ludowici – Robert “Butch” Anderson, 77, died Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Ludowici under the care of his family and GHC Hospice. He was born in Winfield, KS and traveled the world serving in the US Navy, retiring after twenty-six years of service with the rank of SKC. After retirement he lived in Formoso, KS and Ludowici, taking care of his grandchildren and anyone in need, particularly military veterans. Although born and raised without much love, he lived to love and give to others. He enjoyed shopping, especially yard sales and “junking”. He was known for dressing as Santa Claus, purchasing and delivering gifts to schools, hospitals, and nursing homes along with his wife (Mrs. Claus) and grandchildren (elves), also dressed in the part! He enjoyed buying vehicles and looking at campers. A strong man of faith, he was a Baptist and preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis and son-in-law, Victor Pimentel, Sr.
Survivors are his wife of fifty-two years, Bessie Anderson of Ludowici; daughters, Jeanie Lee of Glennville, Tammy Pimentel of Hinesville, Shirley Boatwright (Brian) of Clinton, OK, and Carol Sue Garbacky (Rodney Raiford) of Ludowici; sons, Winston Earl Anderson of Brunswick, Garry Dean Anderson and Josh Wayne Anderson, Sr. (Dawn) of Virginia Beach, VA, Jack Louis Anderson of Ludowici, and Josh Wayne Anderson, Jr. (Wendy) of Richmond Hill; sisters, Linda Scott (Virgil) of OK, Jacqueline Finney (Gary) of OH, and Debbie Tackett (Steve) of KS; brothers, Jackie L. Anderson and Bobby Anderson (Tracey) of KS; grandchildren, Bret (Cheyenne), Ashley (Kyle), Victor, Jr., Jennifer (Keith), and Joseph Raymond; numerous grands and great-grands, nieces, nephews, as well as some who became family by choice. Special acknowledgement: Special thanks to one of the families that was made by choice, David, Franny, Jessica and Lil’ David, without whom the light in dad’s eyes would not have shined so bright and David, you are so much more than brains and muscles.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, December 1 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Bishop Joe Wilkins officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel.
