Richard Fowler

Hinesville - Richard Kingsley Fowler, 71, fully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 8:40 pm.  Richard was born April 19, 1952, in Lake Wales, Florida, however, he lived most of his life in Liberty County. He was a US Army veteran having served as an EOD Specialist. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Richard decided to enroll in the Civil Engineering Program at Georgia Southern University where he received his bachelor’s degree. He then began working for the US Army Corps of Engineers, and later at the Directorate of Engineering at Fort Stewart, where he retired. Everyone knew Richard as an avid GSU fan, but he also enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, and anything safari. Formerly, he was a coach for the Fort Stewart and Liberty County Recreation Departments, coaching basketball, softball, baseball, football, and soccer. A member of Gum Branch Baptist Church, Richard loved his Lord and enjoyed serving Him. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Lorene Fowler, his brother, Wayne Fowler, and sisters Sharon Stevens and Patricia Lee.

He is survived by his fiancé, Yvette Roelofse of Hinesville; sons, Joshua Fowler (Ferrin) of Clinton, TN, and Michael Fowler of Oak Ridge, TN; sister, Ann Fowler Phillips of Daytona Beach, FL, 2 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, January 30, at 2 PM at Gum Branch Baptist Church.  The family will receive visitors at the church.
