Ludowici – Rebecca Gale Shaw, 77, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at her daughter’s residence under the care of her family and GHC Hospice. Born in Anderson, SC, she lived most of her life in Jacksonville, FL before moving to Long County five years ago. She retired from Bell South as a directory clerk, was passionate about her faith, and loved her family deeply. She was a member of First Baptist Jacksonville, had attended Compass Worship Center while in Long County, and was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Emma Lee Higgins, sister, Mary Phillips and an infant brother.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Leonard Poole of Ludowici; son, Stephen C. Shaw of Belton, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Peter Charnisky of Roswell, NM grandchildren, Megan, Chelsea, Bryan, Adam, and Jason; special cousin, Early Tucker of Belton, SC; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 22 at 3 PM at Compass Worship Center with Pastor Byron Powers officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will follow in Baggs Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Bryan Shaw, Adam Cartee, Jason Poole, Jessie Poole, Lamar Poole, and Paul Robertson.
