Jesup – Raymond Alan Austin, Sr., 59, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup. He was born on August 23, 1965, to Johnnie and Gladys Anderson Austin in Cleveland, OH. He was stationed worldwide while in the Army and finally settled in Jesup. After the Army, he was a corrections officer and an electrician for some time. He was a car enthusiast and always wanted to have a Grand National. He loved music and singing but most importantly he loved spending time with his children and grandchild. He always believed that you should never give up, so when doctors told him he had five years to live, he made it thirteen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Austin, parents, and brothers, Albert and Doc Austin.
Survivors are his daughters, Katryese Austin, Raylaunda Austin, Dalemore' Austin, Margaret Austin, Ajaylon Austin, Synnethea Austin, and Betty Austin; sons, Raymond Austin, Jr., Malachi Austin, and Shachia Austin; grandchild, Kaiden, all of Jesup; sister, Janice Pace of Minnesota; brothers and sister-in-law, Alonzo Austin (Carla), of Akron, OH and Tapin Austin, of Cleveland, OH; Godparents, Pastors Dale and Robert Cushinberry; special nieces, Janelle Harris, Michelle Pace, and Ashley Austin; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Howard Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior.
Active pallbearers will be Luis Perez and Raymond Austin, Jr.
