Ludowici – Myra C. (Smith) Stafford, 73, died Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville. She was a native and lifelong resident of Long County and had worked as a secretary in the Long County School System, operated a flower shop, and been a dedicated homemaker. Myra was blessed with a beautiful voice and sang for years at church services, weddings, and other special events and occasions. She was a perfectionist who enjoyed gardening, particularly growing flowers, baking, and quilting and was a member of the Wayne County Quilt Guild. She was a member of First Baptist Church Ludowici and was preceded in death by her father, M. C. Smith, Jr.; mother, Doris Randby; and beloved grandparents, M. C. and Rosa Smith, Sr.
Survivors are her husband of 53 years, Gary Stafford of Ludowici; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Sheri Stafford of Offerman; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and James Willis of Ludowici; grandchildren, Noah DeLoach of Ludowici and Hollyn Stafford, McCrae Stafford, and Bryant Stafford of Offerman, Courtney Johnson of Hinesville and Candace Willis of Statesboro; lifelong best friend, Susan Howard Graham of Jesup.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 14 at 3 PM at First Baptist Church Ludowici with Rev. Eric Rentz and Rev. Brad Boynton officiating. Burial will follow in Flemington Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Active pallbearers will be Noah DeLoach, McCrae Stafford, Bryant Stafford, Stephen Stafford, Clint Stanley, Matt Milton, and Mitch Milton.
