Ludowici – Mildred Bledsoe Golden, 86, died Friday, June 3, 2022, in East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. The native of Plant City, FL had lived in Long County since 1971, and recently resided at Southern Manor in Statesboro. She attended Massey Business College in Jacksonville and worked as a secretary with civil service for many years. Prior to civil service, she worked several years with the Florida Baptist Children’s Home. She was an avid reader of Christian books and literature and was a member of Elim Baptist Church where she worked with the children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Golden, son-in-law, Richard B. Cayton, and siblings, Robert Bledsoe, Louise (James) Kier, Jane (Charles) Howell, and Norma Jean (Bud) Norman.
Survivors are her daughters and son-in-law, Laura Cayton of Harker Heights, TX, and Sarah and Keith Rogers of Statesboro; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Paula Golden and Michael and Melissa Golden of Ludowici; sister-in-law, Marcella Bledsoe of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Rickie (Jason) Redman, Jessie Cayton, Heather (Jason) Kerezsi, Jennifer (Chris) Rollins, Seth Golden, Luke (Maria) Golden, Michelle (Zakk) Whites, Erica (Nathan) Brock, Hannah Golden, Clayton (Kailey) Rogers, and Carly (Adam) Chevalier; great-grandchildren, Cayton, Dylon, and Bradyn Redman, Aidan and Brooklynn Rollins, Brantley, Madaline, and Henry Whites, Avery and Asher Rogers; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 5, from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 6 at 11 AM at the Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Elim Baptist Church Cemetery. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Active pallbearers will be Seth Golden, Luke Golden, Clayton Rogers, Jason Redman, Chris Rollins, Zachary Whites, Nathan Brock, and Adam Chevalier.
