Townsend – Melissa Maria McDowell, 52, died Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the SEGHS Brunswick Campus.  She was a lifelong resident of McIntosh County and the manager of the Econo Lodge in Eulonia.  She enjoyed fishing and gemming on her trips to the mountains.  Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Harn, and brother, Jeffery Jarrett.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, William Joshua McDowell and Missy of Townsend; mother, Allyn Marie Portis of Darien; grandchildren, Samantha McDowell and Troy Harn of Townsend.

Memorial services will be Thursday, January 27 at 6 PM from the Howard Funeral Home chapel.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel.

Burial will be in Plum Orchard Cemetery.
