Mattie (Lightsey) Griffis

Jesup – Mattie Lou Griffis, 82, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in Jesup.  Born in Baxley, she lived in Appling County all of her life and was a homemaker.  Although timid and shy, Mattie was a sweet and kind-hearted lady who loved her family deeply.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Griffis, and siblings, Veda Nell Griffis, Jerry L. Lightsey, and Larry V. Lightsey.

Survivors are her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Lightsey and Mary and Gene Lightsey and Gwenell of Jesup; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Friday, July 26 at 11 AM at Big Creek Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Lightsey officiating. The family will receive visitors at the cemetery.
