Ludowici – Mary “Freeda” Brazell, 91, died Monday, April 25, 2022, at her home under the care of her family and GHC Hospice. She was a lifelong resident of Long County, had worked in local factories, and was a homemaker. She was an avid gardener known for her “green thumb” ability to grow any type of plant. Her flowers and gardens were a source of pride. As a homemaker, she treasured time spent with her family, always preparing delicious meals, and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Elim Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Bernice “Red” Brazell, and sons, Paul Roberson, Ricky Brazell, and Jessie Brazell.
Survivors are her daughters, Barbara Simmons, Betty Brazell, and Francis Brazell of Ludowici, and Addie Faye Berneche (Scott) of Jesup; sons, Alvin Roberson (Sylvia) of Ludowici, William Brazell of Jesup, and Jackson “Junior” Brazell (Lori) of Carlton; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 28 at 11 AM from the Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Ryan Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Baggs Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel.
Active pallbearers will be Stetson Simmons, Brett Simmons, Hunter Dunwody, Justin Brazell, Jordan Brazell, and Kelvin Roberson.
