Townsend – Marvin Dowdy LaRoche, 57, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his home. He was born in Hinesville and lived most of his life in McIntosh County. He was a truck driver but had worked as a police officer for the Ludowici Police Department and deputy for McIntosh County Sheriff’s Department. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding horses. He attended Darien Church of God and was preceded in death by his father, James LaRoche, sister, Mary Emily Gardner-Ryals and brothers, Mark LaRoche, and Archie LaRoche.
Survivors are his daughter, Tristan Perkins of Screven; mother, Elouise Butler-Howard of Townsend; sister, Cynthia LaRoche-Porter of Savannah; brother, Tony LaRoche of Savannah; granddaughter, Trislyn Perkins of Screven; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 21 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tommy Whaley and Rev. Danny Stilwell officiating.
Burial will follow in Sunset Oaks Cemetery in Jesup.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel.
