Martha (Woods) Thompson

Jesup – Martha Woods Thompson, 76, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024, under the care of her family and Hospice of South Georgia.  She was a native and lifelong resident of Wayne County.  Martha worked as a seamstress at Odum Manufacturing and The Cleaners, among other places, and was a Blanton Grove Church of God member.  She was preceded in death by her Parents, Atticus and Myrtle Woods, and her brother, Leon Woods.

Survivors are her daughter, Sheila Williamson (Buck) of Jesup; sons, Junior Thompson and Timothy Thompson, both of Jesup; sisters, Linda Blackwell (Billy) of Odum, Margie Marterson, Jean Woods, and Judy Echols (Phil) of Jesup; brother, Charles Woods (Deborah) of Jesup; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 13 at 11 AM at the Howard Funeral Home in Ludowici with Pastor Mark Griffis and Pastor William Sloan officiating.  Burial will follow in George Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 – 11 AM Tuesday at the chapel.

Active pallbearers will be Levi Thompson, Bryan Williamson, Dylan Thompson, William Kent, Zachery Kent, Waylen Kent, and Reese Roberts.
