Ludowici – Malachi Maxwell, 93, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 at his home under the care of his family and GHC Hospice. He was a longtime resident of south Florida where he was a physical education teacher at Lincoln High School in Palmetto, FL, taught driver’s education and became the head basketball coach, not only coaching young men but mentoring as well. He taught in various other schools, finally retiring in February 1991. He had lived in Long County the past seven years, was a proud F.A.M.U. graduate and a veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nancy Pearl Maxwell, siblings, Willie, Electra, Mary, Dottie, Johnny, and Perry.
Survivors are his daughter, Candice M. Kineard of Pembroke Pines, FL; grandchildren, Chakura and Gemari; two sisters, Orangle L. Taylor and Annie B. Suluki (Abdul) and numerous nieces and nephews; his caregivers of six years, nephew, Isaac A. Hart and his nurse, Meladine Bajard.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 8 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
