Hinesville – Kay Phillips Wells, 60, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. Born in Savannah, she lived in Liberty County most of her life. She earned her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and later obtained her master’s degree. She retired from Liberty County Board of Education after 34 years of service, most of that time teaching 2nd grade. Kay was a devoted Christian, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She was also the best friend and running mate of Roger Wells. An active member of Gum Branch Baptist Church, she was involved with VBS and other activities of the church. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, James Doy Phillips and Lillian McBride Orvin, and her father-in-law, Roscoe Wells, Sr.
Survivors are her husband, Roger Wells of Hinesville; daughter and son-in-law, Lyndsey and Thomas Hibser of Canton; son, William Allen Wells of Schenectady, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and David Dickey of Sylvania; mother-in-law, Rose Wells of Hinesville; sisters-in-law, Elaine Winters and Carla Bell (Mickey) of Hinesville; grandchildren, Vincent, Jacob, and Adelyn; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, June 7 at 6 PM at Gum Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Gabe Gill officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
