Joyce (Gordon) Williams

Ludowici – Joyce Gordon Williams, 89, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, under the care of her family and GHC Hospice.  Born in Long County, she lived there and in McIntosh County most of her life.  She retired from hotel management and returned to Long County where she worked as a bailiff and election poll worker.  In retirement, she treasured time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was an excellent cook and baker.  Sunday dinners were special for her family and her.  Joyce was committed to her family and community and was a member of Ludowici First Baptist Church.  Her husband, O. L. Williams, daughter, Becky Swindell Davis, parents, Mayor Clyde Gordon and Olive Gordon, and siblings, Laverne Sundy, Mary Lois Moon, James A. Gordon, and Jerry D. Gordon preceded her in death.

Survivors are her daughters, Terri McGowan (Mike), and Billie Ann Wingate (Kerry, Sr.) of Ludowici, and Toni Swindell Dykes of Colonels Island; sisters, Jean Gordon of St. Simons Island, Elaine Dunham of Ludowici, and Carol Nail of Vidalia; brother, Johnny Gordon (Anita) of Ludowici; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to express their special thanks to her caregivers, granddaughter Erin Davis, Jill Poppell, Ammy Heather, and the caring staff of GHC Hospice.

Celebration of Life services will be on Friday, October 25 at 11 AM at First Baptist Ludowici with Pastor Earl Kicklighter officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services.  Burial will be private.
