Joy Brown

Ludowici – Joy Marie Brown, 68, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Coastal Manor in Ludowici and under the care of her family and GHC Hospice.   A native of Long County, she lived in Brunswick and Jesup but in Ludowici most of her life.  Joy earned her master’s degree in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia and worked in Valdosta and Jesup a few years, but most of her career was spent at SEGHS in Brunswick.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ludowici and was preceded in death by her parents, George, Sr. and Ruth Mitchum Brown, brother, and sister-in-law, George, Jr., and Thelma Worley Brown.

Survivors are her sister-in-law, Thelma Fife Brown of Ludowici; niece, Becky Brown of Walthourville; nephew, Jack Brown of Odum; great-niece, Rachael Jones of Ludowici; close cousins and caregivers, Angela Windisch, Kathy Walter (Doug), Julie Gamble, and Jimmy Barrett (Janet).

Celebration of Life services will be Thursday, June 22 at 11 AM at the Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Long officiating, with private burial to follow in Middleton Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel.
