Townsend – Joseph “J. S.” Rozier, 87, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, under the care of his family and Golden Isles Hospice. He was a native and lifelong resident of McIntosh County. He retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission in Townsend after 33 years of service and worked for 9 years after retirement at Crescent Equipment Company. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and gardening and was a member of Townsend Church of God.
Survivors are his wife, Christine Rozier of Townsend; daughters, Jean Ryals and Phyllis Wallace (Daniel) of Townsend, Diane Rozier of Middleburg, FL, Julie Vickers (Brian) of Darien, and Maria Gottfried (Kevin) of Newport News, VA; sons, Joey Rozier of Darien and Darrell Young of Townsend; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Thursday, November 17 at 3 PM at Ebenezer Cemetery in McIntosh County with Rev. Danny Stilwell officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16 from 6-8 PM at Howard Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Nathan and Brian Vickers, Cory Ryals, Kevin Gottfried, Corey Wallace, and Josh Rozier.
Honorary pallbearers will be Julius, Ivy, Glenn, and Joey Rozier, Daniel Wallace, and Rusty Clark.
