Joan Evangeline (Pearson) Amerson

Joan Evangeline Pearson Amerson, 91, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026.  Joan was a lifetime resident of McIntosh County, Georgia.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Amerson. She is survived by her son, Bob Amerson (Marcy); her grandson, Brad Amerson (Chelsie); sister, Mary Nell Hemby; sisters-in-law Ruby White, Bonnie Douglas and Wynette Brimer; brothers-in-law Harvey Amerson (Denise), Melvin Amerson, Kennon Amerson (Jennifer), and Alfred Amerson (Brenda); along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Joan was the 1953 valedictorian of her class at Darien High School, a former postmaster of the Darien Post Office, and a member of Crescent Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 24th, at Crescent Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crescent Baptist Church.
