Jan (Nail) Phillips

Jesup – Janet E. Phillips, 84, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of South Georgia.  Born in Queens, NY, she lived in Long and Wayne counties most of her life.  She retired from civil service at Ft. Stewart and was a homemaker.  Jan’s children and grandchildren were her world.  A Catholic by faith, she attended Trinity Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Way and daughter, Angela Leggett.

Survivors are her daughter, Lynn Sapp (Kenny) of Screven; son, Thomas “Pat” Way, Jr. (Cori) of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Eleanor Thompson of NY; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her faithful K9 companion, “Sassy”, and caregivers, Penny Carroll and Teresa Harper.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Monday, November 11 at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Stan Todd officiating.  The family will receive visitors at the cemetery.
