Jan (Gordon) Mixon

Ludowici – Jan Gordon Mixon, 80, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at her home.  Born in Ludowici, she lived in Tampa, FL thirty-four years returning to Long County in 1998.  She retired as a collections agent and was a homemaker.  She enjoyed playing cards with her local card ladies, fishing, and watching sporting events.  While playing on the Ludowici High School girls basketball team, Jan set a record for averaging 29 points per game during one season.  A record of which she was immensely proud.  She also played for the basketball team while attending Brewton-Parker College.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ludowici and the Mary D. Gordon Sunday School class and preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Mixon, siblings, Everett, Bill, James, Nell, Maree, Bobby, R. S., Annie Mae, Dorothy, Jeanette and Rubye.

Survivors are her sister, Lillian G. Simmons of Ludowici; sisters-in-law, Robbie Gordon of Lumber City and Anita Gordon of Jesup; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 7 at 3 PM at First Baptist Ludowici with Rev. Brad Boynton, David Simmons, and Rev. Justin Gordon officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Burial will follow in Baggs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Mary D. Gordon Sunday School class.
