Ludowici – James “Jimmy” Horne, Sr., 80, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 5, 1945, Jimmy spent most of his life in Ludowici, where he became known as a Godly, hardworking farmer, devoted husband, loving father, amazing Poppa, and friend to many.
Jimmy was a man who believed in hard work, integrity, honesty, and taking care of the people he loved. Farming was more than a job to him – it was the life he loved. Long days in the fields, early mornings, and the strength of his hands helped provide for his family for many years. He taught those around him the value of dedication, hard work, and perseverance through the example he lived every day.
Above all else, Jimmy loved his family deeply. He shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Linda, building a life filled with love, faith, laughter, and countless memories. Together, they raised a family that was the pride and joy of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Horne; his daughters, Rosa, Sarah (Johnnie), Cindy (Ed), and Charlene (Chuck); and his son, James T. Horne, Jr. (Vanessa). He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his wisdom, kindness, and steady presence.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Casy Horne, whom he loved dearly and carried in his heart always.
Jimmy will be remembered for his strength, his loving heart, and the way he always put his family first. Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the memories he created will live on in all who knew him.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
A memorial service will be on Tuesday, May 26, at 10:00 AM at Howard Funeral Home Chapel.
