Ina mae (Poppell) Thomas

Ina Mae Thomas, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 24, 2020 in Johnson City, TN. 

A lifelong resident of McIntosh County.  Ina was born on February 16, 1934 to the late Eddie and Minnie Poppell of Ludowici, Ga.

She worked for thirty seven years as a waitress with Western Sizzlin and Quincy franchise.  In her later years she worked in housekeeping until she retired in 2015.  She loved gardening and working with her flowers. The love of her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren She loved spending time and being with family. 

She was preceded in death by two sons, Scott and Bud Thomas, her parents, four brothers, Barney, Tom, Barnard and Vernon Poppell, two sisters, Eddie Mae Young and Emily Rozier. 

She is survived by one daughter, Juanita and Billy Gray of Johnson City, Tennessee, one son, Larry and Diane Thomas of Shellman Bluff, Georgia, five grandsons, Paul, Philip, Patrick Gray, Brooks Thomas and Jackson Thomas, and four great granddaughters, Harper, Eliza, Sloane, and Meredith Gray, one loving sister, Bobbie Ryals of Townsend, Georgia and one brother Elton Poppell of Ludowici, Georgia and also many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, loved her and ever spent time with her. 

Graveside services are being planned by the family for a date and time to be announced.
