Hazel used her office as a notary public to serve her fellow friends and neighbors as a trusted witness and volunteered countless hours as a poll worker during elections. Both she and her husband, Wallace, were active members at Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Garden City where they took on many roles over the years. They later transferred their church membership to the Ludowici United Methodist Church when they moved to Long County in 2007. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Woods and her son-in-law, Major Robert Cahill.
Survivors include her daughter Ann Michele Cahill of Ludowici; son Wallace Woods, Jr. and daughter-in-law Susan Pierce Woods of Cleveland, GA; sister Dorothy Roughen of Durham, North Carolina; and brother Benjamin Ridgdill, Jr. of Shellman’s Bluff. Her grandchildren include Dr. Laura Cahill, Lisa Cahill, Lindsey Cahill Green, Dr. Wallace Woods III, David Woods, and Katheryn Woods Hatch. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Liam & Woods Declan Woods, and Henry Hatch; Ruth Hatch as well as nephew Dr. Patrick Roughen and niece Dr. Kevin Roughen Thompson.
