Harold Stephens

SSG Harold Gene Stephens, US Army (Retired), 71, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Memorial Health in Savannah.  Born in Brunswick, he lived in locations around the world during his military and civil service careers, settling in Hinesville in 2024.  He retired from the US Army with over 20 years of service and retired from civil service.  An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.  He was a Baptist by faith and preceded in death by his siblings, Una Hewitt, Dora McKenzie, Lynch, Jr., Larry, Bobby, Roger, Donnie, Pete, and Glynn Stephens.

Survivors are his wife, Carousel Stephens of Hinesville; daughter, Cassandra Stephens of Hinesville; sisters, Linda Mason, Carol Smith (Greg), Marilyn Hewitt (Jimmy), Kathy Goff, and Darlene Brown (Paul) of Jesup, and Penny Ray of Brunswick; brother, Lonnie Stephens of Jesup; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, from 4 pm-6 pm at Howard Funeral Home. 

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 2, at 11 am at Howard Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville at 1 pm.
