Gladys Lee Shaver

Hinesville – Gladys Lee Shaver, 74, died Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family and under the care of Kindred Hospice.  She was born in Winton, NC, March 18, 1946 to Marshall and Ruby Page Lee.  She retired from Perdue Farms Hatchery in Murfreesboro, NC after twenty-five years of service.  She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening in her spare time as well as visiting casinos with her sister.  She raised her seven children, along with countless others as her own, and was a caregiver for family members in need.  She was a member of Winton Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Shaver, I, children, Robert “Butch” Shaver and Archie Shaver, son-in-law, Jeffery Payne, and siblings, Linda Conner, Wilma Lee, William Lee, Sr., Wiley Lee, Walter Lee, Robert Lee, and Archie Lee.

Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Ebern Wiley of Hinesville, Shelley and Greg Richard of Brenham, TX, and Ruby and Donald Purgason of Alapaha; adopted daughter, Jackie Pope (Richard) of Gates, NC; sons, John Shaver, II of Conway, NC, and Michael Shaver of Suffolk, VA; sisters, Agnes Bryant of Hico, TX, and Ruby Wilson of Red Oak, TX; twenty-two grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
