Gene Mazingo

Nicholls – Royce E. “Gene” Mazingo, 70, passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Decatur.  Born in North Carolina, he had lived in Bacon County over twenty-five years and was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  He had worked as a mechanic and electrician retiring from Satilla REA.  Gene was an active man who enjoyed welding, singing, dancing, bee keeping, auctions, raising horses, and fishing at the Satilla River cabin.  He was Baptist by faith.

Survivors are his fiancé, Karen Crews of Ludowici; daughters, Daphne and Debbie of Pennsylvania; son, Brandon Mazingo; sisters, Geraldine Moore of Swansboro, NC and Louise Kornegay of Richlands, NC; half-sisters, Virginia Cole of Tennessee, Alice Hayes of N. Wilkesboro, NC, Linda Hanner of  Asheville, NC and Judy Brinson of Virginia; half-brother, Buddy Mazingo.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 16 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brian Smith officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel.

Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.
