Ludowici – Miles Gary Stafford, 74, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Landmark Hospital in Savannah. Born in Ludowici, a son of the late Herman and Ruthie Stafford, he lived in Long County all his life and was a retired supervisor from Interstate Paper in Riceboro. Gary grew up on the family farm and continued farming throughout his life. He was married to his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Myra Smith Stafford, for almost 54 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church Ludowici, where he served as a deacon, and was preceded in death by his wife, Myra.
Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Sheri Stafford of Offerman; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and James Willis of Ludowici; grandchildren, Noah DeLoach, Hollyn Stafford, McCrae Stafford, Bryant Stafford, Courtney Johnson, and Candace Willis; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Hazel Stafford of Ludowici; sisters and brother-in-law, Rebecca Scott of Fayetteville, SC, and Leigh and Micky Milton of Sterling; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 21, at 2 PM from First Baptist Church Ludowici with Rev. Brad Boynton and Rev. Eric Rentz officiating. Burial will follow in Flemington Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 20, from 4-6 PM at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Noah DeLoach, McCrae Stafford, Bryant Stafford, Stephen Stafford, Clint Stanley, Mitch Milton, and Matt Milton.
