Hinesville - Gary C. Groover, 68, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at his home under the care of his family and GHC Hospice. He was born in Savannah and spent two years in Germany as a child before making Liberty County his lifelong home. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs play. He was a member of Crossroads Holy Church of God and was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Groover; parents, Tracy and Maureen Groover; and sister, Dot Groover.
Survivors are his children, Jonathan Groover (Tallie) of Hinesville, Jamie Smallwood (Shawn) of Indiana, Matt Groover of North Carolina, Steven McDonald (Kimberly) of Hinesville, Mary McDonald of Jesup, and Faith Allen (Eric) of Hinesville; brothers, Danny Groover of Hinesville, and Ronald Groover (Patsy) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Cameron Jean Groover, Gabe Groover, Katelyn McDonald, Dustin McDonald, Maddie Allen, Hallie Allen, Emory Mitchell, Georgia Glandon, Hunter Glandon, Parker Glandon, Kyleigh Glandon, Claire Smallwood, Mallory Fisk, Lexie Fisk, Kylie Fisk, and Ellie Fisk; nieces and nephews, Tracy Smith (Keith), Joey Groover (Christi), Justin Simmons, Keith Groover (Whitney), and Dana Groover.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 13, at 11 AM at Crossroads Holy Church of God in Hinesville with Bro. Jep Newberry, Bro. Tom Smiley and Joey Groover officiating. Visitation will be on September 12, from 6-8 PM at the church.
Burial will immediately follow at the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Clay Rowe, Keith Groover, Tom Smiley, Tyler Groover, Jacob Groover, and JoJo Groover.
