Ludowici – Gail Walter Deal, 70, daughter and eldest of five, was born on May 22, 1952, to Lucile and Lawrence Walter in Ludowici, Georgia, and departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, April 9, 2023.
Gail was a beloved mother who was preceded in death by her son, Lee Deal, and her parents. She also was a cherished sister, grandmother, and friend to all. Gail was a lifelong member of Ludowici First United Methodist Church and worked as a Civil Servant in Ft. Stewart, later working as a Registered Nurse while raising her children in Bloomingdale, Georgia. After several years in Bloomingdale Gail returned to her roots in Ludowici, Georgia.
Gail was known for filling a room with her laughter and songs. The love she displayed for all she met was genuine and heartfelt. You could hear her humming and singing just about any time of day. Gail’s best name was “Boo Boo” as she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the time she had with them. Gail also enjoyed filling her time with her love of flowers, bird watching, going to the beach, and the Atlanta Braves!
Gail leaves behind a strong family of her brother Doug (Kathy) Walter, and three sisters, Nancy (David) Stanley, Judy (John) Long, and Glenda Curtis to carry her spirit. Gail also leaves behind a legacy of 2 daughters, Stacey Stringer (Timothy Sauls) and Jamie Durrence (Brandon Autrey); 5 grandchildren, Lacey (Brandon) Hunnicutt, Kayla (Shawn) Harrell, Cassidy (Hunter) Tuttle, Seth Weeks and Ella Autrey; as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Natalie Hairens, Garrett Oglesby, River Harrell, Jason Hunnicutt, and Casey Tuttle, as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 11 at 3 PM in the Howard Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Justin Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery in Long County.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel.
Active pallbearers will be Shawn Harrell, Brandon Hunnicutt, Hunter Tuttle, Matthew Morris, Kasey Stanley, Jordan Long, and Douglas Walter.
