Townsend – Fred P. Rowe, Sr., 65, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2021, at his home under the care of hospice. He was a native and lifelong resident of Townsend and had worked as a carpenter for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He could grow anything and was known in his neighborhood as Farmer Fred. His parents, Charlie and Bert Rowe; and sister, Molly Jane Nasworthy preceded him in death.
Survivors are his companion, Betty Ryals; daughters, Carolyn Lee-Mincey of Millen, and Jasmine Cooper (Matthew) of Missouri; sons, Fred P. Rowe, Jr. (Amanda), and James “Peewee” Davis of Townsend, Leslie Sidwell (Crystal) of Texas, and Adam Rowe of Millen; sisters, Margaret Bowens (Tom) of North Carolina, and Edna Bowens (Ed) of Millen; brothers, Charlie Rowe (Francis), Tom Rowe (Connie), Hank Rowe, and Rayford Rowe (Sabrina) all of Townsend’ numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Saturday, September 25, at 1 PM at the Young's Island Cemetery with Rev. Danny Stilwell officiating.
Visitation will be at his home, Friday, September 24, at 5 PM.
