Frank Samuel Middleton of Ludowici, Georgia died peacefully at the conclusion of a long illness on January 29th, 2024, at age 86 under the care of Georgia Hospice Care. He was born February 10th, 1937, to the late Arthur and Lorine Middleton. He was the eldest brother to Gary, Larry, Wilford, and Loretta Middleton Pye. Of his many joys, perhaps the greatest was being husband to Diane Middleton. He was a devoted father to Kevin and Kelly Middleton, Stephen and Brandy Middleton, Kevin and Gina Gierc, and Lisa Middleton. He was a beloved grandfather to Ella-Jane and Isabella Morris, Ramsey and Stevie Middleton, Elizabeth Middleton, Sara Gierc, Jessica and Lior Zaken, and Jeffrey and Ragan Gaskin. Lastly, he was a great-grandfather to Amelia, Jaidn, and Talia. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Wyatt Sims Middleton.
Frank was the very definition of a humble servant—to his town, his country, his faith, and most of all to his family. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and he was the Ludowici Chief of Police for five years. However, nowhere was his political respectability more evident than in his twelve years as Long County Superior Clerk of Court. There, he distinguished himself as the essential American civil serviceman, where he sought not notoriety but honor, not force but kindness, not power but a platform for change. He woke each morning with a contagious enthusiasm to perform even the simplest duties of his office.
To every dimension of his life, Frank brought the same vivacity. Whether wearing the hat of private counsel, in which he lent quiet, measured wisdom to all, or playing the role of the comedian, growing big and loud even in his last, most feeble days, he seemed to give us all a glimpse into what can only be described as the angelic. It is with great honor those fortunate enough to know him will conserve his soul and spirit in their lifelong joy of remembering Frank Middleton.
Relatives and friends are invited to join in the celebration of Frank’s life on Thursday, February 1st, 2024, at 3:00 PM at New Beginnings Church: 2047 GA-57, Ludowici, GA 31316. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. His service will be assisted by pallbearers Jim Fuller, Mike Fuller, Andy Fuller, Shane Middleton, Brent Middleton, Robbie Hughes, and Merrill Chapman. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in his name to Georgia Hospice Care, 141 S. Macon St., Jesup, GA 31545.
