Hinesville- Dr. Frances Virginia Rozier Roberson passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at her home in Hinesville, Georgia, after a long illness. She was born April 11, 1947, at home in Shellman Bluff in McIntosh County to Harold and Virginia Rozier. Frances graduated from Bradwell Institute in 1965. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Georgia on June 7, 1969. She began her teaching career at Wayne County Junior High in 1969, transferring to Liberty County High School in 1970. She taught Home Economics at Bradwell Institute for many years, eventually serving six years as Vice Principal and Vocational Supervisor for Bradwell Institute and Hinesville Middle School until 1986. While serving in the Liberty County Educational System and raising her family, Frances went on to earn her Master of Education on December 6, 1976, her Specialist in Education on August 25, 1980, and her Doctor of Education on June 14, 1986, all from her beloved University of Georgia. In addition to her teaching career, Frances owned Victoria’s Jewelry store and the Hinesville Antique Mall, as well as several other businesses in the area.
In 1994, with her family by her side, she ran for District 3 State Senate. She loved her community and wanted to make a difference in the lives of those around her, especially in education. Following her distinguished teaching career in Liberty County, Frances and her husband James worked to bring Brewton Parker College to Hinesville, where Frances served as Dean for many years.
Frances’ greatest joy in life was her family. After her mother’s passing, Frances continued the family traditions that were so dear to her. She was the spirit that kept us together. Frances had a kind heart and poured her love into her family and her community. She taught us, by her example, to live by the Golden Rule, and she did. She never missed an opportunity to reach out to anyone she met in need, with a kind word, a comforting hug, or a little card reassuring them they were loved. She spent her life doing for others and treating others with the spirit of God. Frances is preceded in death by her husband, James Roberson; her parents, Harold and Virginia Rozier; and her brother, Larry Rozier.
She is survived by her daughters Virginia "Ginny" Correll and Miranda Roberson; her sons Jordan Roberson and Mark Roberson; her two grandchildren, Brooke Williams and Wyatt Williams; two sisters Loretta Rozier and Debra Crowley (Mike); and four brothers Harold Rozier, Jr (Mary), Wayne Rozier (Debbie), Arthur Rozier (Sheryl), and Norman Rozier, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jim Rozier, Jacob Rozier, Travis Crowley, Stephen Crowley, Len Dryden, and Luke Dryden.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 18, beginning at 5 PM at Howard Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 19, at 2 PM at Walthourville Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Wayfair Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in McIntosh County.
